What is sop (standard operating procedure)?

A written procedure for a repeatable task, specifying the steps, their order, the prerequisites and the known failure modes. A good SOP is a checklist with warnings, not an essay — it is read while doing the task, not before it.

Why sop (standard operating procedure) matters

SOPs are what let a task move to someone new without the knowledge moving with the person who left. They are also the documentation most likely to be written once and never revisited, which is worse than none because people follow them anyway.

How Flocci Library handles it

Numbered lists for ordered steps, to-do checklists for repeatable runs, callouts for the dangerous ones, tables for inputs and owners, and a read-only share link so contractors can follow the procedure without an account or a seat.
