What is page tree?
The nested hierarchy of pages inside a space, where any page can have child pages to arbitrary depth. It gives readers a sense of place and gives writers an obvious home for new detail.
Why page tree matters
Hierarchy is how people build a mental model of an unfamiliar body of knowledge — but only for the first two or three levels. Past that, navigation collapses and everyone switches to search, which means the deeper structure is pure maintenance cost with no reader benefit.
